Class guide

Professions

New to Lineage 2? Start here. Learn how classes work, what each role does, and how class changes, subclasses and Noblesse work on L2 Frenzy.

The basics

How classes work

You create a character by picking a race and Fighter or Mystic. Then you change class three times as you level up. Each change unlocks new skills and decides your role, so the 2nd class at level 40 is the big choice.

  1. Lv 1

    Base class

    Race + Fighter or Mystic.

    Example: Human Fighter

  2. Lv 20

    1st class

    A general direction.

    Example: Warrior

  3. Lv 40

    2nd class

    Your real role and skills.

    Example: Gladiator

  4. Lv 76

    3rd class

    Stronger version, end-game skills.

    Example: Duelist

Subclass, Noblesse and Reclass

At level 75 you can learn more classes on the same character, become Noblesse and enter the Olympiad.

Subclass

Any Village Master
  • Your main class must be level 75, and every subclass you already have must be level 75 too.
  • Quests needed: Fate's Whisper and Mimir's Elixir (or skip them with Coins of Luck in the GM Shop Donate section). Red Pipette Knife is free in the GM Shop quest section, so you don't have to fight Baium.
  • Noblesse characters can add subclasses without the quests.
  • Up to 3 subclasses. The Services Manager sells 2 extra slots for 9 Coins of Luck each.
  • You can't take Overlord or Warsmith as a subclass. Elves can't take Dark Elf classes and Dark Elves can't take Elf classes.
  • You can't take two similar classes: knights, daggers, archers, summoners and nukers each count as one group (e.g. Sorcerer, Spellsinger and Spellhowler).

Noblesse

Noblesse quest
  • The Noblesse quests are done on a subclass: level 50 to start, level 75 to finish.
  • Everyone must kill Barakiel, even if you skip the rest of the quest with Coins of Luck.
  • Noblesse Blessing: keep your buffs when you die and are resurrected.
  • Needed to join the Olympiad and become a Hero. Olympiad opens after the first month.
  • Noblesse can add subclasses without doing the subclass quests.

Reclass Master

Giran
  • Change your current class to any other class of the same class level, from any race. A 3rd class can become any other 3rd class.
  • Costs 25 Coins of Luck, or 75 when Dominator is involved. Overlord can't be picked.
  • Can also swap your main class with one of your subclasses. Each side keeps its own level.
  • Skills are reset and re-learned for the new class. Your Divine Inspiration buff slots are kept.
  • Olympiad points are removed if you already played at least one match. 10 minute cooldown between changes.

Before you start

Beginner tips

Skills are learned automatically

Auto Learn Skills is on, and no spellbooks are needed. You never have to visit a trainer.

Use the free NPC Buffer

All important buffs last 2 hours. Buff up before every hunt, it makes a huge difference while leveling.

Check what monsters drop

Shift + left click a monster to see its drop list before you spend time farming it.

Mind the grade penalty

Wearing gear above your level gives a penalty, just like retail. D grade at 20, C at 40, B at 52, A at 61, S at 76.

Healers and buffers are always wanted

If you want a party every time you log in, a healer or buffer is the safest pick. You can always add a damage class as a subclass later.

Not sure? Pick an easy solo class

Summoners, Dreadnought, Titan and Bounty Hunter are forgiving and level well alone. Easy to learn, still useful at end game.
